Duck Race Rescheduled! August 25th at Noon.

The Third Annual Friends of the Fair Duck Race will take place Sunday, August 25th at noon. Join us at the river on the Fair Grounds for all of the excitement and fabulous prizes! Cash prizes are $250, $100, $75, and $50. Gift cards and other goodies too. Proceeds from the Duck Race support the handicapped shuttle during the fair and this year, restoration of the Antique Hill log cabin chimney. Your support is greatly appreciated. Tickets are still available from any Board member.

2013 Annual Meeting and Duck Race!

The 2013 Friends of the Tunbridge World’s Fair Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2013. We will meet in the Pavilion building on the Fairgrounds this year.
A potluck luncheon will be served at 11:30 am with beverages provided. Please bring a guest, a place setting, and a dish to share.
The business meeting will start at 12:30 pm and is open to all, but dues must be current to vote. Agenda includes Officers’ reports, Board elections and Project updates. Board seats are available, so bring your ideas!
Our third annual Duck Race will begin at 1:30 pm with the “launching” of the ducks in the First Branch at the Mill Bridge. The finish line will be on the Fairgrounds near the ox barns. There will be cash prizes of $250, $100, and $75, as well as many wonderful donated gifts that will awarded to the first several ducks to cross the finish line. Funds will be used for the handicapped shuttle and the restoration of the chimney in the Log Cabin on Antiques Hill. We wish to thank the Royalton Civic Club’s generous donation in 2011 which allows us to own the ducks and institute this annual event.
Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and can be purchased from any Friends of the Tunbridge Fair Board member.

Summer of 2012 News

The Friends of the Tunbridge world’s Fair will hold their sixth annual meeting Sunday, July 29th at the Dodge-Gilman Building on the fairgrounds. Members and other interested parties are invited to attend the traditional potluck gathering at 11:30 am. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share and a place setting. Beverages will be provided.

The Business meeting will commence at 12:30, with a review of the past years activities. It is an opportunity to hear about this year’s project, a gas engine operated ice cream maker. Election of officers will take place. We have 2 open seats for election and could use some new members. All members are eligible to participate and vote but annual dues ($25.00) must be paid in advance of the business meeting.

We will adjourn promptly to enjoy the Second Annual Duck Race at the beach by the cattle barns. This family-fun event benefits our handicapped shuttle program during the Fair. Ducks will be available that day, $5.00 each or 5 ducks for $20.00. Tickets are available from TFWF Board members and from Sue Cain at the South Royalton Market. Again, we thank the Royalton Civics Club for helping us establish this event. Prizes include cash, gift certificates and baskets from local business. Please join us for a great potluck followed by a half hour of fun.

Proposed Moveable Bleacher Fundraiser

The Friends of the Tunbridge Fair are trying to raise $4500 for a new portable metal bleachers that seat 70 people. Bleachers are needed at various popular venues during The Fair and other events. The idea of portable units that could be placed and moved around safely and easily really appealed to everyone.

The UAS Board has budgeted for one unit and the moveable hitch asked the Friends to underwrite the cost of the second unit. At least one other Vermont fair placed an order and combining our order will reduce the shipping costs and ensure the additional seating is available for use this year.
